Korindo Energy has products, like the exhaust gas scrubber, and selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) that are designed to benefit the environment and abide by the latest IMO Tier 3 regulations. This could be incorporated as part of the turn key propulsion package we offer.

Exhaust Gas Scrubber

An exhaust gas scrubber is a device installed in the exhaust system after the engine or boiler that treats the exhaust gas with a variety of substances including sea water, chemically treated fresh water or dry substances, so as to remove most of the SOx from the exhaust and reduce PM to some extent. After scrubbing, the cleaned exhaust is emitted into the atmosphere. All scrubber technologies create a waste stream containing the substance used for the cleaning process plus the SOx and PM removed from the exhaust.

Selective Catalytic Reduction System

Another solution to prevent air pollution is the selective catalytic reduction system or popularly known as "SCR". SCR system is one of the most cost-effective and fuel-efficient diesel engine emissions control technologies available. SCR technology is designed for the reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx). It is called selective because it reduces levels of NOx using ammonia as the instrument of reduction within a catalyst system. The reducing agent reacts with NOx to convert the pollutants into nitrogen, water and tiny amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2).
